Reduction: Reduce
I found this while doing some legwork for the seniors, who begin their daunting literary research projects this week. I especially enjoyed, and Em will too, the entry for Franny and Zooey:

That goddam kills me. (And I've 90% decided to go ahead and try and teach Catcher to the freshman this spring, given the strength of the class as a whole and my need for something besides the classic, but nonetheless effective, "Big Two-Hearted River"/The Old Man and the Sea combo.)
