Going East by way of West
Tomorrow morning at 6:30 I board a plane for Vancouver, and there I will board a different plane headed across the big-ass Pacific for Beijing, China.
Once again traveling with students and faculty (and fiancee) for free, a Taiwanese student's mother has generously paid for 18 of us from the school to tour China for 10 days: Beijing, Shanghai and Xian; all (four star)hotels and meals paid for; a six-woman team of assistants from her office (she runs a shoe empire); and local tour guides every day. All we had to pay for was air fare to and from China.
I'll try to blog from one of the hotels, otherwise expect a synopsis of sights and experience when I arrive back at JFK on my birthday.
Should I pack my ping-pong paddle?
