wall
So one of the walls in my small faculty appartment is now painted Planetarium Blue™, courtesy of my own painting experience on Watertown maintenance crews and Home Depot's paint sector. You wouldn't believe the names they use for different shades of paintcolor. Here's a job I'd like: lounge around and come up with entrancing color names. For a while I was indecisive betweeen the spacious and rich planetarium, the moody twilight drive, and the capricious but dismissive It's Trivial!.
To heighten the decorative tension I've adorned the wall only with images that contain some connection to blue: a Miles Davis poster all in black and white except for the word "blue" in "Kind of Blue," the sidewall from a six-pack of Blue Moon wheat ale, and a print of Dali's "El Gran Masturbador" with it's deep sky blending into the wall's blue.
It was a needed tweak to the room I remain calling home. This year, however, there will be actual boarders living down the hall. Seven middle school students of varying nationalities and temperments will be my neighbors. PSII will be played, opinions on pop culture will be had, pizza will be re-heated, and room inspections will be firm but fair.
I am in charge of the entirety of both the freshman and senior classes this year. For the trimester, I will again share head coaching priveleges with Coach, advise the film society and rock improv groups, and meet with the School's writers in preparation to bring some experimentation to the School's theater dept. (and you KNOW I mean experimentation). Scalding bee-product, baybe.
In other news, there has been an upgrade from Continuing Series of Excellence, to Sweethearts.
